The Grouse & Ale is a welcoming village pub with a warm and friendly atmosphere. This 17th century pub with its oak beams offers a comfortable dining area, a cosy bar area with intimate nooks & crannies and a banquet hall with lofted ceiling for private parties, business dinners and banquets for up to 50 diners or buffets for 30 to 80 guests.
 
The entrance bar has a large fire place with roaring fires on chilly nights and soft comfy leather seating in which you can simply relax or browse through the newspapers and magazines provided. In contrast, enjoy the secluded courtyard, a little sun-trap with planted borders for al fresco drinking and dining during the warmer months.
 
As winner of “Best Gastropub of the Year 2010” south-east region, their reputation for good quality, freshly-made food using locally-sourced produce wherever possible, is well-established.

The menu is varied to suit your mood or occasion. The chefs create the menu to suit the season and there is always a choice of specials each day. On Sundays, there’s a set menu with 4 or 5 choices of starters, mains and desserts including a selection of roast dishes; which are quoted as being “the best roast I’ve ever tasted”.

For parties and banquets, special menus are designed to fit the occasion and budget.  We also have an external catering operation which has been delivering high quality catering at large corporate hospitality events as well as private parties and weddings for over 15 years. 
 
The Grouse & Ale is accredited with the Cask Marque and offers 4 real ales, including a regularly changing guest ale. There are also 50 wines on offer, over 20 of which are available by the glass. Every month they hold regular events including seasonal celebrations, village events and parties, live music and quiz nights.
 
You’ll feel right at home here  - whether catching up on some business and making use of the freely available wi-fi and quiet meeting areas, or with your family or dog enjoying the bar area and courtyard, or on your own relaxing on the sofas reading the numerous books available whilst waiting for friends. 

Business meetings: We know what you need; good access, easy parking, outstanding food, fantastic service and great value. At the Grouse & Ale we pride ourselves on having created not only a great social venue, but one where you can host a relaxed or formal business session. With adequate seating for 60 (for dinner) it is available for hire any day or night of the week.

WI-FI internet access is always available and unlike some venues, we won’t charge you for the privilege. 

Opening Hours: Sun to Thurs: 12 noon – 11pm.    Fri & Sat: 12 noon to late.
 
Food available:  Mon to Sat: 12-2.30pm and 6 to 9.30pm.   Sun 12 to 4pm
