Icknield Way Path runs between Ivinghoe Beacon on the Bedfordshire Buckinghamshire border to Knettishall Heath in Norfolk
The Icknield Way is thought to be the oldest track in Britain, dating from Neolithic times (4,000-2,000 BC). It was the trade route of the Iceni, an early British tribe, linking the Norfolk Coast to the downlands of south-central England.
Contecting the Ridgeway to the Peddars Way the route follows a chalk ridge from the Chilterns at Ivinghoe Beacon where it links with the Ridgeway National Trail to Knettishall Heath Country Park in Suffolk. The Way passes through Luton, Baldock, Royston, Great Chesterfield and Icklington.
