The Icknield Way Path goes east to Knettishall Heath in Norfolk and The Ridgeway, a designated National Trail stretches over 80 miles west to Overton Hill near Avebury in Wiltshire. Both paths follow the same route used since prehistoric times by travellers, herdsmen and soldiers and together form the oldest road in Britain. Adjoining Ivinghoe Beacon is the National Trusts Ashridge Estate, together covering over 2100 acres of protected, quintessentially English, Chilterns countryside.
