There are many local attractions. For walkers, ramblers and serious hikers, the nearby Ivinghoe Beacon marks the start of two major footpaths. The Icknield Way Path goes east  to Knettishall Heath in Norfolk and The Ridgeway, a designated  National Trail stretches over 80 miles west to Overton Hill near Avebury in Wiltshire. Both paths follow the same route used since prehistoric times by travellers, herdsmen and soldiers and together form the oldest road in Britain.
Adjoining Ivinghoe Beacon is the National Trusts Ashridge Estate, together covering over 2100 acres of protected, quintessentially English, Chilterns countryside.  The displays of bluebells amongst the beechwoods of Ashridge truly have to be seen to be believed. Acres of irredescant blue flowers carpet the woodlands in May.

Other local attractions include Whipsnade Zoo, Woburn Abbey and Woburn Abbey Safari Park and Waddesdon Manor.  There are many excellent golf courses nearby including, Woburn, Ashridge and Berkhamsted.
