Introduction

The Fat Fox Inn, formerly the Fox and Hounds, is a country pub with dining and accommodation in the village of Watlington on the northern edge of the Chilterns in Oxfordshire. The pub is easily accessed from the M40 at Lewknor. Watlington is only 15 miles from the heart of the City of Oxford and 35 minutes from Blenheim Palace and the Oxfordshire Cotswolds, as well as the Thameside town of Henley on Thames, home of the Royal Regatta.

The interior of The Fat Fox has been updated, is warm and welcoming and features wooden floors, an open fire and a smart dining area. There are several local ales on offer along with a good selection of wines, spirits and soft drinks including coffee. The surrounding countryside is excellent for walking, there are a myriad of footpaths nearby including The Ridgeway National Trail which passes within half a mile of the front door. The area is ideal for spotting the many Red Kites that populate the skies of the nearby Chiltern Hills.  

Accommodation. The bedrooms at The Fat Fox Inn are located away from the main pub in a converted coach house and are beautifully furnished, spacious and comfortable. All rooms include a TV with freeview and wi-fi internet connection.

Double and Twin Bedrooms are priced from £79.00 including breakfast. Both have en-suite shower rooms.

The Family Room is priced from £70.00 per night including breakfast and has a bath and shower over.

The Premiere Double Rooms are priced from £79.00 per night including breakfast and also have a bath with shower over and king sized beds.

Dining at The Fat Fox. The menu is full of hearty seasonal dishes, lovingly prepared and beautifully presented, using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. Amongst the dishes on offer is courgette and basil soup, corn-fed chicken breast in a field mushroom sauce, local Cumberland sausages and mash, whole sea bass and local Ewelme lamb.
