Full Description: Renowned as one of Hertfordshire's friendliest pubs, The Valiant Trooper is located in the quintessentially English village of Aldbury. Nestling at the foot of the Chiltern Hills and within walking distance of the National Trust's Ashridge forest. Aldbury is famous for the delightful duck pond and ancient stocks. Originally named The Royal Oak, the pub's name changed to The Trooper Alehouse in 1803 - rumoured to be because the Duke of Wellington once met his troops here to discuss tactics.
