Whipsnade Zoo

Introduction

With so much to see and do, a visit to Whipsnade Zoo is the perfect day out in Bedfordshire for people of all ages.

Whipsnade Zoo is one of Europe's largest wildlife conservation parks.  It is home to more than 2,500 animals, many of which are endangered in the wild.

Set in 600 acres of beautiful parkland in the Chiltern Hills, just north of London near Dunstable in Bedfordshire, The Zoo, like ZSL London Zoo, is run by the Zoological Society of London, a charity devoted to the worldwide conservation of animals and their habitats.

There are tigers, elephants, hippos and giraffes in huge outdoor enclosures. There is also a Lions of the Serengeti attraction, cheeky chimpanzees, rhinos and Asian elephants. As of Easter 2007, you can also go in with the Lemurs and see these stunning primates as they go about their business on their island. You can drive your car round the scenic park, or hop on and off the free Safari Bus. Alternatively, experience the Jumbo Express train for an exciting adventure.  There are daily live talks, demonstrations and feeds, beautiful picnic areas and stunning views over the Vale of Aylesbury.
